" In December 1985, Penang Sayadaw Bhaddhanta Panñāvamsa representing the International Myanmar Sangha Association instigated the formation of the Burmese Buddhist Society of Australia Inc. (BBSAI), the first Burmese Buddhist organisation in Sydney . On the invitation and request of Sayadaw Panñāvamsa and the BBSAI, Sayadaw arrived in Sydney on December 27, 1987 and resided at the vihara in North Parramatta, and then at the Merrylands Vihara for about (10) years, till the present permanent vihara was built at No. 65, Orchardleigh Street , Yennora."
